Marketing and growing companies on CD's - before Google even existed

So I had just made the biggest gamble of my career so far. And let me tell you, I was terrified.

Here I was, making good money at Homebase, was recognised by my peers as one of the best in the game, and could have easily continued my career in retail. Then I resigned to take up a “graduate” position!

Three years after graduating, I signed up to a six week graduate placement with a small new media company.

Back before Google existed, my friends and family didn’t even know what “new media” was, never mind heard of a company called “Delphic”.

My dad was introduced to a chap named John Fisher who worked for a local enterprise training company, which placed graduates into companies for six weeks.

The idea was to give graduates real experience to help boost their CV and their career opportunities. The salary was £125 per week, equivalent to £6,000 per annum.

At the end of the six weeks, I would be unemployed if the company didn’t offer me a job....
