Transforming a betting company, who weren’t a betting company

And the story continues, sweat was pouring off my face flipping burgers at McDonalds.

Then out of the blue, I received a phone call from Marie at Texas Homecare asking if I would like to attend an interview.

Yes please!!

To give you a bit of background, before I started at McDonalds I had previously applied for an assistant’s position at a new Texas store close to home - in fact, it was only a 10 minute walk away.

I never heard anything from them after applying. Months had passed and not even a “Thank you for your application” or a “Sorry you have not been successful” message.

Back then, I was only 16 and I thought it was rude. That feeling stuck with me.

So I promised myself, that if I was ever in the position to receive applications from candidates, they would receive at the very least, a quick message from me within a few days. A promise I have kept to this day.

Anyway, I attended the interview in my best suit (it was my only suit) to meet Marie and Ian - who was one of the department managers...
